Ron, Kayce and Ollie by the Sea

I’m not sure if we took these in July or August of 2017 but I’m writing about this again because I recently learned they are now a family of 4. On the months leading these effed up Covid Days, we’ve agreed to meet three times for pictures. Sadly, none of those happened but I’m pretty sure that a future meeting will happen someday soon.

In a way these three started my career photographing people just by the sea at the South Road Properties. During this time, we would have been charged 500-1000 pesos by luck was on our side and we shot for free.

We arrived just in time for sunset and these are some of our pictures. See you again soon Ron, Kayce, Ollie and Onzo!

Jem and Lyn

It’s been a little over a decade since these pictures happened. Jem and Lyn were pretty much the first two people who asked me to take photos right after I resigned from my corporate job to become a photographer. I remember meeting them in Ayala, their civil wedding at the make shift tents by the provincial capitol because of the 2013 earthquake and all of our meetings after they added 2 wonderful boys in their lives.

I took a break from writing about pictures because I had to put a little attention in to grilling chicken, which I must say is as tough as photographing a wedding. But yesterday and today are rest days which gave me time to gather my thoughts for this. Not before I headed out to the market to buy around 3 kilos of Pork Belly.

Do you remember this Jem and Lyn? Know that I am always grateful to you two!

Roche and Auden vol. 2

The same day edit presentation would have already been played around this time last year. Roche and Auden didn’t want too much fanfare but hoped that everybody to have a good time during the wedding reception so they booked a mobile bar. I actually wished the host ended the party sooner so everyone could have more drinks. Haha!

Anyway, we hang around after the reception ended and stayed until there were no more drinks left. We also passed by barbeque before heading home. A second round of dinner if you will.

Volume 2 of Roche and Auden’s wedding below.

Ian and Kerstin in Bangkok

It’s been a while since I wrote something around here. The lack of shooting assignments doesn’t necessarily mean there’s nothing to write. Matter of fact, since I carefully curate the pictures that get posted on the blog, I can pick a few more pictures from the last few years and think of words to go along with it. That’s what I am doing with this post.

What made me write this one is actually the song in the background if you cared to listen to it. It’s an old favorite from back in 2003 which I recently started playing again. I thought the title kind of fit the current situation that we are in. “This city’s made us crazy and we must get out.” Not that I want to go somewhere but the song’s a bit nostalgic and I thought these photos from Ian and Kerstin’s very candid pre wedding in Bangkok fit it terribly well.

These aren’t too long ago but looking back at these and the rest of the pictures on my hard drives always humbles me. Because really, I think I’m a better at tricking you with storytelling than taking your pictures. “This city’s made us crazy and we must get out.”

Pictures of Food

I’d usually write a few words to go along with a blog but these are pictures of food and these require no words at all.

These are made by friends and since I have both my feet planted on the food selling kind of thing, I bought their products too.

Luckily, light at the house is nice in the afternoons so I managed to take a few pictures using the mighty, mighty iPhone alone.

If you like any of these, let me know.
