The Latest Stories Of
Tas and Joy vol. 2
My camera has been taking me to a new place every year
No, I don’t have the travel bug
And I’m particularly scared of plane rides
Yet somehow, I find myself somewhere new year after year
Well, except this freaking year!
The pictures below are from October of last year
When Tas and Joy decided to take me with them to Seoul
It was a brief 3-day trip and even though I’m not a fan
I particularly enjoyed walking through the cold weather
And the fact that I could eat at Shake Shack again.
See you soon Joy and Tas.
Joaquin Eduardo
I went out again today to shoot another baptism
The 2nd one in three days and in the same church
Aside from wearing masks and protective gears
Everything’s pretty much the same
Even before the pandemic
I guess I approach things with utter simplicity
And look for tiny bits of life
Which normally appear as ordinary to most observers
When the priest blessed everyone just before parting
I felt happy and terribly hopeful
THank You Dee and Biboy.
Amaris Sage
After yesterday morning’s grill session
I hurriedly got dressed and drove off for a shoot
That’s right, my first one in such a long time
It was for the baptism of Amaris Sage
I knew her parents for quite some time now
And these pictures would have been done back in March
Well, you know the rest of the story…
Since church seating is limited
We met at the grandparents house so they can have pictures taken
Just before heading off to church
It was brief and meaningful
Thank You Brian and Hanna!
A Year Ago in Ilo-ilo
These days, the sound of airplanes hovering above our roofs
Feels like a gentle reminder to remain hopeful
I counted more than 4 airplanes since late last night
Pretty uncommon nowadays but I got to admit it makes me happy
I don’t miss travelling too much, though
Between the actual flight and waiting at the airport
I would say I miss sitting at the terminal more
For some reason, the sitting and waiting always humbles me
These things, however, might be a little further away still
But it doesn’t mean we’re waving the white flag
I’m sure the right time will come
For us to return to our normal lives
In the meantime, let’s look after each other, alright?
Sunday Mornings
On Sundays, since we started grilling, we gather for lunch
We grill some pork and chicken for ourselves
Yesterday, the kids were allowed to go out
To swing, play, bike and see us grill
Our our custom grill, which looks like a really mean machine
Arrived on Friday evening.
This made grilling last Saturday relatively quick
And yesterday’s grill a little more fun
As usual, I have to write about all of these
So these times can be remembered
Year after year, after year.
