The Salvatierras

I still had a few assignments between Christmas and New Year.
One of those was a long drive down south of Cebu to Sumilon
I woke up a little early and left the city while it was
still dark. When I arrived at the jump off point, the rain
was relentless. Luckily boat trips weren’t suspended.

I arrived at the island and caught Xavi and Vera playing
on the sandbar. It was still drizzling but I took out my
camera and to take a few photos while they were having
the time of their lives. After they got dressed we took
a few more pictures before leaving the island after lunchtime.

Thank You Karlo, Maru, Vera and Xavi.

I immediately caught them I soon as the boat docked on the island.

They enjoyed getting pushed by the waves on their floaters.

Xav’s talking was as relentless as the rain.

But during lunch time we still talked and talked and talked.

The Calalangs

Before last year ended, familiar faces asked me to take
their pictures. One of them was Celeste and her family, who
I first met back in 2014 when their first born, Calliandra Jade,
turned one. It was a pleasant surprise when I got her message.
Luckily, I had time to shoot.

I told Celeste it was going to be candid and casual.

They agreed on what to wear which was nice too.

But the kids are not having none of it. Haha.

Always a pleasure seeing families grow, in population that is. Hahaha.

This is Ate Jade in 2020 and Ate Jade in 2014. Hihihi.

Jasper and Jessica

It rained quite a bit when I took these photos of Jasper and
Jessica. Sort of like the downpour here in Cebu City a few
hours ago. When they picked me up at home in early December, the rain was a cause for worry but I didn’t feel that it bothered
these two. They were too intent to just sit somewhere and enjoy
a cup of coffee.

One would think that my straight-forward approach to shooting
is as easy as 1,2,3. While you may be right, it’s still slightly nerve wracking. Luckily, I’ve met people who are brave enough to be themselves in front of the camera because the truth of the matter is, these pictures won’t work if the three of us do not click at all.

We waited for a few minutes to be seated.

And took the usual pictures despite the rain.

The space was small but we worked with what was given to us.

On our way home, we drove midway to Tops.

And stopped by these flowery sort of trees.

But it was already late in the afternoon.

I forced them to do this. Hahaha. Don’t sue me attorney.

No Excuses

A year usually starts with a blog post full of behind the scenes
pictures of us, and the people we work with during wedding
assignments. Last year, however, turned our to be an anxiety
packed surprise, so let me instead make this a “Gratitude Post”
for every single one of you out there who still asked me for pictures despite.

I sort of went back to work in August and things kept
on rolling after that. Kids, weddings and families all took
turns being in front of my cameras which took long vacation
leaves after March. Luckily, they still work. Hahaha!

There are too many of you to mention, but know that I’ll always
be grateful to you for providing me with work to do. Salamat kaayo!

Amaris, I met you twice for pictures last year!

Juna and the rest of the Magdadaro Family who has asked me for pictures since 2015.

And Era, who’s never asked someone else but me for pictures.

I will look back at this until I am old Dodong and Lailaii.

Doc, Diii and RJ, thank you for the warm welcome into your home :P

Dave and Gie, you always make work terribly fun for me. You know?

Celeste, who asked me last minute for pictures. Yey!

I drove so many kilometers down south to take these!

JP and Candice

I was supposed to write about JP and Candice’s wedding
the day after they got married. However, the New Year
preparations got the better of me. Thankfully, I had time
to work on this earlier.

Like most of the recent weddings I was asked to shoot, theirs
was also rescheduled. We would have done this back in August
but their December wedding was good too. There were so many
plan changes but that didn’t stop them from deciding to
exchange vows still.

They told me they didn’t meet anyone else aside from me and I
thought that was wonderful. Thank You Candice and JP. I will see you again down the road soon, OK?

Happy New Year Everybody.

On the same day back in 2019, we also shot our last wedding for the year.

This is Laurence making waves on the bath tub.

The coordinator asked for bed scenes portraits, sorry I don’t do those :P

For this assignment, I asked Tim to help me.
