JR & Greanne

I took me a little over 5 hours to drive to Samboan from
Cebu City last Friday night. Greanne told me to pass by
Barili but I opted to pass by Argao because, I’m sure there
are ghosts along Barili. Plus of course, I had to pass
by Sip Ma Cha in Carca which I actually did.

It was 30 minutes past 12 when Chris and I settled in on
our beds. Luckily, we didn’t need to wake-up until around 8AM
because if you already knew the people who ask me for pictures,
you’ll know that they are the ones who do not like too many of
them and Greanne was not an exception. There also wasn’t a
coordinator so this was all us and all candid. No sort
of curation whatsoever.

When we left to get back to the city at around 8 in the evening,
some visitors were still singing and I remember Greanne scrambling
to get us souvenirs and to send us off. She asked me to shoot
this wedding just before the lockdown and I couldn’t be happier
to be there capturing these pictures for her and JR. Thank You
Greanne & JR.

Down the Road

One of the things I dread after shooting is when I get
asked for the bill, you know? It’s almost a decade since I
started taking pictures but somehow the part where I give
a price for the work I do is still quite unsettling.

I don’t want to over think but on the surface, I think the reason
for it is because I don’t want to treat each session as a
business transaction let alone think of myself as a business
person. And maybe that is why I’ve been shooting the same people
over and over throughout the years. In that case, I must be doing
something good, you think?

Ron & Kayce are no different. Around this time in 2017, we
took pictures in just about the same place after their wedding
and in the 5 years that has passed, we kept in touch once
in a while. Weeks ago Kayce asked me to take this pictures to
remember their 5th year as husband and wife. We rescheduled once
because of the rain but his today fate heard us and these are just
some of our pictures.

Ron, Kayce, Olie & Onzo Daghan kaayong Salamat ha!

Glazy & Choi

A few days before this shoot, Choi & Glazy asked if I was
alright with Sandra’s Garden. I told them I was OK with it but
I didn’t particularly like shooting there. I said, “there’s
nothing candid about booking a place to take pictures.”.
We would just end up being just like the everyone else. Apologies!

Luckily these two agreed and were quite spontaneous like me. So when
the rained stopped on the afternoon of our meeting, they fetched
me in JY and we drove up to Busay. We parked the car on the side
of the road and took these from a little patch of greenery.

Choi & Glazy, I know I’m a pain in the ____ but I thank you
for trusting me.

Choi & Glazy, Finally

On the way home from Ayala Center last weekend, this song was
playing on the radio. I knew it was from the 80’s and recognized
Cyndi Lauper’s voice. I hurriedly took note of the lyrics and
searched for the title in google because I thought it could be
used for a wedding slideshow.

“And once we start, the meter clicks
And it goes running all through the night” ~ C.L.

Glazy asked me to shoot her wedding back in 2018.
We waited years for this day to come and when it did,
well, it rained. But no downpour can dampen the
eagerness of these two, so along with their family and
friends, they finally exchanged I do’s.

Thank you Choi & Glazy.

Twice the Fun

It’s been a while since I saw Ray & Dianne. More than 5 years,
I think. So I was a little thrilled when they asked me for family
pictures during this trip. Twice, as a matter of fact. And
both almost didn’t happen because of the weather.

This post is a little longer than usual because I did mention
we met twice right? Towards the end of our last meeting,
Dianne’s good, good friend, whom I’ve also taken pictures a week
prior joined in with her little Olie.

Thank You Torboi, Dianne & Noah. See you in KMart :)
