Yesterday I arrived in Ilo-ilo, after a gruelling 13 hour boat ride from Cebu City
Plus an additional 2 hours for the docking maneuver because sea current was strong
As I am writing this, my backs are packed and ready to go home
I’ve been travelling a lot this month, Bohol, Cotabato, Tacloban, and now here
And all of this just for the love of taking pictures
Most of my friends and clients would say, I’m lucky to be doing what I do
Shoot, travel, shoot, travel… etc.
But I’m sure and I’d like to argue that we are all equals
We’ve just been given different things to do, but we’re all lucky in a sense
The shooting and travelling are perhaps the very obvious things you see
But behind all of those are hours of working on pictures, printing,
Preparing this blog, making albums, deliveries
And the best of all is paying bills like everybody else
The lucky part? Well, I feel it most when I am sitting behind my laptop
Looking at recent pictures and reliving all the emotions
Of a wedding, or a baby shoot all over again.
That despite my short comings, people like the work that I produce
And trust me, to point my camera at them
So I can preserve memories on a piece of 4×6 inch of paper
Powerful enough to make them smile a good 5,10,15 years from now
Here’s Edjun and Kat, one of those few people
Who looked so happy on their wedding day.
