When I was a little younger, I remember being invited to a couple of debut celebrations. I’m not sure if it’s the same in other countries because based on my research this is actually a Filipino Tradition. Really? Hahaha. We’ll, it’s when a lady turns 18 and her family throws in a party to celebrate her coming of age. One of the highlights of the celebration is when 18 girls will light 18 candles & 18 boys give the debutant a rose before dancing with her :)
Previously, debuts are a little straight forward and didn’t include pre-debut shoots :) You know, like a pre-nup or engagement shoot? Don’t get me wrong and I’m not complaining but I may have just to admit that I’ve grown old. You know? Isn’t noticing a change such as that a sign that you’ve been a round a little longer? Shhhhh!!!
Anyway, I must warn you guys that I’m no good in shooting portraits and I’ve actually turned down a few inquiries for pre-debut shoots :(
Due to persistent public demand, no other than Winona’s Mom, Sandy & I happily decided to shoot Winona’s pre-debut session at our favourite location near the Ayala Heights in Busay, Cebu City. Two years earlier, we also shot her pre-sweet sixteen session :) Yay!!!
I’m not sure if I’m the only one but I usually approach a shoot feeling all confident and then end up close to shaking just before a session starts. Hahaha! Especially true with portrait sessions :) I don’t know. I’m actually a very optimistic shooter and have all these ideas in my mind but when shooting time arrives, everything becomes a little Blurry… Literally :) Don’t worry, we’re working on that and if that’s something that cannot be addressed soon, I promise to still keep working on it.
p.s. This is a busy week. Tomorrow we are joining a church seminar for Wedding Photographers & this weekend we are Joining XLOVE Cebu. A workshop for Wedding Photographers by an Extraordinary Photographer & a good friend, Ryan Ortega.
I was more than glad my favorite photographer, joined me for the shoot.
